Rainey learning how to shed down to a single ewe. This is the second time she has done this. She loves to shed and tries very hard. She is a quick and willing partner. It's not perfect but we are both trying to work as a team.
I really enjoy working with her. She tries to please and sometimes I get her to be bad. Which is good as she tries to be perfect, I want her to try to be bad so she can learn from her mistakes.

You have great sheep to work with....You would laught to see what I have to work with....One or two cuts and the cut sheep will kill to get back with the flock. Good work.
Nice video, fun to see her figuring it out. Interesting sentiment on wanting her to be bad so she can learn from her mistakes. Regardless of the endeavor, (herding, agility, etc) I think people are afraid to let their dogs make mistakes. Making mistakes is what allows them to learn. No mistakes, no opportunity for problem solving and thinking. Well said.
Kirby- You are so right. Dogs learns from their mistakes (as well as people)....they have to try, make a mistake or be bad, then they are open to learning a new behaviour.
With Rainey, I try to get her to be bad, such as try to do whatever it maybe, as it will make her a stronger dog.
By not scolding her when she gripped, she learned she can turn the ewe and later, she marches stronger into the ewe.
Her confidence gets better and better.
Prior, she would not walk into a ewe, let alone grip and wouldn't drive more than a few feet.
By letting her be bad, she got to be a much stronger and better dog and enabling herself to try harder.
The reward from me is whatever she does, bad or good, in the end, she is a better dog. And she tries to solve a problem than wait for me to tell her to every step. I am making her think and sometimes, she will figure a better solution than the one I had!
