Toby - A cowdog on sheep!!

This weekend one of my friends, Roger Edwards from the cowdog side of trialing, came over to our place. Roger and Gaynor have put on a series of CowDog trials in Eastern WA over the years. I have run at those trials with Tait, Scott, Roo and Kane. We have done really well in that venue.

Roger and Gaynor happen to be some of the nicest people in the world. Over the years, they have made sure that I had a horse to ride, a place to sleep, food on my plate, a beer in my hand and making sure that I fit in.

So, it was great that Roger could come over here with his cowdog, Toby. She is 4 years old and she works on his cattle operation. Roger, Ron and Hope all came over to run dogs in the sheepdog trial at Whidbey Island this weekend. (Ron ran Roger's dog, "Ruby" for him. Ruby is Kira's dam)

This is Toby. Roger didn't run her but she is one nice working female. He uses her for moving his cattle. She is a very sweet dog.

We practiced at my far field on Saturday. Toby bringing up the rear. The big white clunkhead wether in the front is Danny. Danny was a bottle baby. His sire was a Dorest and his mom was a range ewe. Danny is not the sharpest knife in the drawer but he became very attached to me as a bottle baby and so he stayed.

Look at her intensity.

Walking up closer.

Still intense.

Oh, stick out that tongue now!!
