Homeward bound

I am cold and tired so this is gonna be short. Roo got drawn in the 12th slot in the Double Lift. The prior 10 runs had decent weather and Lana (11th slot) and I had the rain, 60 plus a mile winds and freezing cold.....tarps flying everywhere, chairs sailing i the air, porta potties all fell down, trailers swaying badly....I about fell down at the post when I tried to walk back.

Roo gave me his all and placed 9th....not bad considering he could not hear me worth a damm....he would turn to me and look as if to say "What do you want me to do"....he had a great turnback for his second packet and his sheep were not there....he finally crossed when they arrived...his drive was nice, and his first (almost) completed International shed was quite nice as he has never down that before but held true to his side.....

As soon as his run was over, we hopped in the truck and headed home and got in rather late, totally beat up and exhausted.....Fire Ridge was a superb trial with it's rolling hills, tricky sheep, great trial hosts and wonderful friends....a must return!

Took some pixs but not much as it was raining on and off and then the hurricane set in and everyone ran for cover. Roo's fur was being blown so hard, it was sticking straight up in the air and he was shivering quite a bit.

The drive over the mountain was hard, wet and foggy. We will unload the trailer later this week as all I want to do is sleep.

Lynn and Jesse were the only team to complete the course. Bob Dias and Rock got fourth and I forgot the rest of the placings. When I get it, I will post it.

Fire Ridge Double Lift

Today was a long day. I judged Nursery, PN and two runs of Novice. There were nice runs and some excellent handling. First and second place were only a point difference. I'll post the scores after I get them. I didn't see any of the Open as I was at the different field.

Roo and I made it into the Double Lift. His combined score was 145. Nan didn't make it as her score was 131. Since I wasn't able to do my draw for the Double Lift, Bob Dias did the draw for me and we got the 12 slot. So we will run last tomorrow. Bob will run at a 2nd place in the run order with  Rock.

I hope we will do well as it will be the first Double Lift with  Roo and I. we start at 9:00 and I should run at 3 or so. I hope I can get some pixs to post them.

Fire Ridge Trial

Well, I just downloaded close to 900 pixs from the last week. Then I only edited one of them. This one as you can tell. Next week when I have more time, I will do Regionals, then our vactaion then Fire Ridge.

This the the coolest Fire ridge Sign that Karen Mahoney made for Melinda. Notice the bottles of wine and canned veggies.  Leaving wine out with me around is not a good idea....I love a good Cab or Merlot.

The Open Class is about 63 dogs, spread over Th and Friday. Then the second Open is Friday afternoon and on Sat. The Double Lift is on Sunday. As of now, I might get in with Roo, so keep your finger crossed for us. Nan, with her combined scores, is out of the running.

The first Open field was a rolling field that played havoc with the dogs. Send to the away and they crossed over at the fetch to went over the road. Send to the right and they would disappear over the hill to the set out. First day was won by Lavon and Tess. Bob and Rock had tied for first place but they had a runoff and Lavon won. Both had tied at 81 and were nice runs. Nan got 68 and Roo got 64.

Second Open run was switched to  a different direction. Sent to the left this time, caused cross overs and to the right would cause the dog to go over the hill. It was tough but a well laid out. I am enjoying the trial so far. Nan was free spirited on her crossdrive and got 63 for a combined score of 131.  Roo laid down a good run at 81 and I was very happy with his work. More details later on the Opens runs.

I didn't make it over to the PN or Nursery fields the last two days. I am judging the Nursery, PN and two rounds of Novice on Saturday. The Double Lift for 12 dogs will be on Sunday.

More tomorrow...

These signs have a message

Probably someone saying "Boo"

Great, fish cancer stick!

Those Canadians have the best humor!

In case you didn't know that.

Well, at least he is happy.

Those darn fish are now drinking as well as smoking!
