Cupid, the new LGD

We decided we needed a male LGD to help out with the two females. So we looked for the right pup and finally found one. He is 5/8 Maremma, 1/4 Pyrenees, 1/8 Anatolian and was born Feb 14, 2015, hence the name Cupid. The spouse named him.  He was about 9 weeks old when we got him. Stella and Heidi took him under their paw right away. He is learning not to chase sheep and protect the flock. He mimics what the other LGD do so that is great.

Cupid and Heidi

He has been here since the beginning of June and is doing a great job. He is huge! He is just as big as Heidi but super sweet. He has learned to come to his name to get a treat. Both Stella and Heidi come to their names and are lashed trained. They get chicken jerky (their fav treat) when they come so this works well.  Next is to teach Cupid how to walk on a leash.  The sheep have accepted him and will sleep next to him.  We are happy to have him join out LGD team on the farm.
