Sightseers to the 3,000 year old Uffington White Horse in
Oxfordshire have been surprised to see it has suddenly gained a jockey.
The new addition to the prehistoric hill figure is a marketing stunt by
bookmakers Paddy Power to celebrate the Cheltenham Festival, which starts next
week.
It took a 20-strong team six hours to install the temporary 200ft wide and
110ft tall jockey - nicknamed Paddy - under the cover of darkness.
Paddy is made out of more than 200 metres of lightweight canvas, pre-cut into
five separate pieces, secured to the ground by 500 tiny tent pegs.
