On the River pixs from Sat - Nan - July 25, 2009

Here is Nan's second run at the trial,. It was a picture perfect run and we got 2nd place, just one point behind first place. This run secured our spot in the Double Lift.

Nan brought the sheep in a nice straight line and an nice turn around the post.

On the first leg of the drive. It is very hot and I was wishing I wore my shorts!!

Hitting the first drive panels dead on. What a nice line dog!!

She had a great drive and now in the shedding ring. I am lining them up.

Calling her in for the shed. She is fast when I call her.

Nan flies in to get the shed. She is a great shedding dog.

Holding the shed and then I give her the look back. She gathers the sheep in the ring and off to the pen.

Calmly walking them into the pen. This is when a huge thunder bolt lit up the sky and I though she would bolt but she held her ground. She is terrified of thunder and gun shots.

You can see Nan through the pen and holding her side of the pen. Right after the run, it thundered and began to rain and we ran like the dickens to the trailer!!

The Handler's Tent at On the River

The view from under the handler's tent. We are looking at some clouds that ar racing across the mountain. See the trees in the distance...they are huge. In a few minutes, it began to have thunder and lightning!!

I am so glad that I am under the tent!!

Some one made a "Pop Pole" It was quite creative!

Don't we look relaxed. Dirk and Sonya put up two huge tents. It was great as it was roasting hot. The tents were very popular. Sonya made lunches and had cold drinks for sale. It was wonderful. We all had a good time. You should go to this trial if you can.

On the River pixs from Sat- Open- Lucy - July 25, 2009

On Saturday, was the second day of Open. As usual, Tess was front and dead center for her arm chair herding.

Tess is smiling so this run must be doing well.

Lucy and I are at the post. I have been wearing hats at the trials now.

Time for a soak in the water trough. It was HOT!! There was only room for one so I didn't join her. She worked her heart out for me.

On the River pixs from Friday- Open July 24, 2009

These are the sheep. There are very nice Scotties. Two are from Dirk's flock and two are from Decatur Island where they run wild. They have not been worked by dogs. It made for a fun but tough trial. I really enjoy Dirk and Sonya's trials!!

Here is the first day (Friday) with Nan. The sheep are about 500 yards up the hill in a small vale. The dogs can not see the sheep. Nan trusts me to go out to find the sheep.



Off she goes like a speeding bullet!! Look at the scenery around me. Isn't it beautiful? Dirk and Sony sure know how to put on a top notch trial!


One of the best turns at the post. She is a driving machine too!! We really teamed up well!!


Lined them up and straight through the first drive gates. She is rating herself quite well!!

One of the few dogs to hit the fetch panels. Most of the people were low.

OK, Nan is a shedding queen!! We fine tuned our sheds a week later at the Scott Glen shedding clinic. She is driving the sheep off now. Notice that I am facing the sheep the proper way!!

To the pen we go!! This is where I had them all penned but two of the lambs slipped through the steel gate and then tried again. We ran out of time as they keep trying to slip through the gate. Nan worked hard and kept her cool.
